Virender Sehwag’s Birthday wishes to MS Dhoni Goes Viral
Compares Captain Cool to a Hidden Waterfall in Kerala, Former India opener Virender Sehwag has once again won the internet with a heartfelt and poetic birthday wishes to MS Dhoni. Taking to Facebook on Monday to wish his longtime teammate, Sehwag compared Dhoni to a little-known waterfall in Kerala, calling the analogy “nature’s hint” about the former India captain long before he was even born. The post, which has already clocked millions of views and thousands of shares, was far from a regular birthday message. Instead, Sehwag painted a vivid picture of the ‘Dhoni Falls’ in Palakkad, Kerala, and drew striking parallels between the natural wonder and the man who redefined Indian cricket as Captain Cool.”Paani dikhta calm hai. Hai nahi.”Sehwag began his post by describing the location of the waterfall.
“Kerala ke Palakkad mein, ek jungle ke andar, ek waterfall hai jiska naam hai – Dhoni. Koi seedha nahi pahunch sakta. Rasta mushkil hai thoda. Guide chahiye. Teen ghante chalke jaao tab dikhta hai.” Translation: In Palakkad, Kerala, deep inside a forest, there is a waterfall named Dhoni. You can’t reach it directly. The path is a bit tough. You need a guide. Walk for three hours and then you see it.
He then described what makes the waterfall special. According to Sehwag, from the top it appears completely calm and serene. But the reality inside is very different.”Upar se bilkul shant. Andar se aag. Surface smooth, lekin kareeb jao toh pata chalta hai kitna powerful hai.”From the top it is absolutely calm. Inside there is fire. The surface looks smooth, but when you go close you realize how powerful it is.Sehwag highlighted that the Kerala Forest Department has even put up a warning sign near the falls which reads: “Paani dikhta calm hai. Hai nahi.” — “The water looks calm. It is not.”
The cricketer then added the line that struck a chord with fans: “Mujhe nahi pata yeh rule waterfall ke liye tha ya No. 7 ke liye.” — “I don’t know if this rule was for the waterfall or for No. 7.”The reference to ‘No. 7’ is an obvious nod to Dhoni’s iconic jersey number, under which he led India to the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy titles.”Nature ko pehle se pata tha”What made the tribute even more special was Sehwag’s philosophical twist. He pointed out that the Dhoni waterfall in Kerala existed long before MS Dhoni was born on 7th July 1981.
“Aur yeh jagah, yeh Dhoni Kerala mein tab se hai jab Mahendra Singh Dhoni paida bhi nahi hua tha. Jaise nature ko pehle se pata tha. Koi aayega. Aisa hi hoga. Aise hi milega, mushkil raaste ke baad, bilkul unexpected jagah pe.”And this place, this Dhoni in Kerala, has been there since before Mahendra Singh Dhoni was even born. As if nature already knew. That someone would come. It would be like this. It would be found like this, after a difficult path, in a completely unexpected place.
Sehwag concluded by saying that once you find something like that, “ek baar jo mil gaya toh bhoolna mushkil hai” — once you find it, it is hard to forget. He ended the post with “Happy Birthday M S Dhoni. Stay blessed forever” along with a yellow heart emoji and the hashtag #HappyBirthdayDhoni.
Fans React The post instantly went viral. Fans flooded the comments calling it “the best tribute of the day” and “pure Sehwag.” Many shared stories of visiting Dhoni Falls in Palakkad, while others said the description fits Dhoni’s personality perfectly — calm on the outside, but with immense power and intensity underneath. Dhoni, who turned 45 on Monday, has been away from international cricket since 2019 but continues to lead Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. Known for his unflappable demeanor, finishing skills, and sharp cricketing mind, he has often been described as the most composed finisher the game has seen. Sehwag and Dhoni shared the dressing room for over a decade and were key members of India’s 2011 World Cup winning squad. The two are known for their mutual respect and occasional banter on social media. With this post, Sehwag has once again shown why he remains one of the most loved voices in Indian cricket — blending humor, nostalgia, and now poetry to celebrate a legend.
