20 years later, back with the same girls : Sakshi Singh Dhoni

Sakshi Singh Dhoni posted a beautiful Instagram post for Mrs Bannerjee her childhood English teacher.

She posted with photo & caption. ” 20 years later, back with the same girls, the same laughter, the same stories — and perhaps a little more wisdom! ❤️ From bending rules and testing our teachers’ patience to now being on the other side of life, realising that so much of what we resisted back then was actually shaping us for the better. Funny how the things we disliked most about school are often the things we miss the most.

Mrs Bannerjee, my Grade 6 ( BII ‘s) English teacher from 1999, still remembering my full name in 2026 — as classy and gracious as ever!
Our lovely Mrs Brar, whose kindness, charm and warmth made her such a special principal. And my HM, Mrs Vasudev, who understood my emotions at an age when I could barely make sense of them myself. Your kindness and encouragement are something I will always carry with me. ❤️ And some things never change — a Welhamite’s love for food! Kadhi chawal, Gulabo…Chowman ..bun tikki man …. clearly, some loyalties are lifelong! 😂

The extraordinary art and music productions, the beautiful Rang Kabir, and meeting the next generation of confident, talented Welhamites — what a wonderful reminder that the spirit of our school continues to thrive. And to my girls — 20 years, different journeys, countless experiences, yet the comfort of old friendships remains exactly the same. The conversations may have grown up, but the laughter certainly hasn’t!

We spent our school years wanting to grow up, only to realise that those were some of the years that shaped us the most. Here’s to the teachers who understood us, the friendships that stayed, and a school that gave us far more than an education…a Home !!! Batch of 2006 — a little older, a little wiser, and forever Welhamites. 💙
