The main goal of coming down to Melbourne is to explore myself : Pavandeep Singh

Pavandeep Singh has been representing the Malaysian cricket team since the age of 16. He made his debut against Singapore during the Stan Nagaiah trophy in 2014 and has since then gone on to play 101 matches for Malaysia till date.

The 6ft Malaysian is a left arm spinner and he opens the bowling for Malaysia across all formats. Across his international career for Malaysia so far, he has played a total 101 matches and taken 118 wickets at an economy of 4.33. Pavandeep is currently the highest wicket taker for Malaysia in T20i and List A cricket.

Along with the other great moments he has had on the field, the most recent one would be reaching the milestone of 50 T20 International wickets. He achieved this feat during the all important Quarter Finals match vs Bangladesh in the 2023 Asian Games which were held in China.

Pavandeep has also represented Malaysia in various editions of Multi Sport events. He participated in the Sea Games ( South East Asian Games in 2017 & 2023) as well as the Asian Games in 2014 & 2023). Pavandeep also helped Malaysia contribute to the medals tally during these games, winning Gold & Silver at the South East Asian Games.

Besides representing Malaysia, Pavandeep has also had the opportunity to showcase his talent by playing in overseas leagues. Some of his experiences are playing in the Singapore Premier Division representing the Singapore Indian Cricket Association & Millennium United Cricket Club. The 26 year old is currently in Melbourne, Australia playing for the Hallam Kalora Park Cricket Club in the DDCA league.

Pavandeep Singh, 26, when speaking to a representative from btimes.live said “The main goal of coming down to Melbourne is to explore myself to different conditions and at the same time compete against a different group of players. Club cricket is pretty big here and you get players from Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan playing in various leagues here. As an associate cricketer, it’s always good to play against or together with current or ex players from full member countries. I hope to do well and am certainly looking forward to the rest of the season here which will go on until March next year.
